Native American
Purification, Healing, Vision
The sweat lodge (inipi) is a purification ceremony using a domed structure where heated stones create intense steam. It symbolizes returning to the womb of Mother Earth.
Used by many Indigenous North American tribes for thousands of years. Each tribe has specific protocols, songs, and prayers associated with the ceremony.
Enter the darkened lodge. Hot stones are placed in a central pit and water poured over them. Four rounds of prayers and songs correspond to the four directions. Give thanks and emerge renewed.
