Born: 1854 in England
Died: 1934 in Australia
Anglican priest turned Theosophist, clairvoyant, and prolific writer
Worked closely with Annie Besant and was a major figure in the Theosophical Society
Claimed to possess clairvoyant sight, meaning he could see subtle (invisible) aspects of reality: auras, chakras, etheric structures, even past lives
He mentored Jiddu Krishnamurti, who was initially seen as the potential "World Teacher" in the Theosophical movement.
Leadbeater outlined seven layers of human existence beyond the physical:
Physical Body
Etheric Body
Astral Body
Mental Body
Causal Body
(and beyond, to the buddhic and atmic planes)
He believed that as people advanced spiritually, they could shift their consciousness into higher bodies—and in doing so, bypass normal physical laws.
Levitation, in this framework, could occur when the etheric or astral body became the dominant vehicle of consciousness, and the density of the physical body was reduced.
In books like The Chakras and The Inner Life, Leadbeater described witnessing people with siddhis:
Levitation
Telepathy
Clairvoyance
Materialization
He claimed that such powers weren’t supernatural, but rather natural extensions of the human soul when fully awakened.
He wrote that the chakra system, once activated, would lead to:
Mastery of prana (life force)
Awakening of kundalini energy
Control over bodily functions and eventually even physical forces, such as gravity
