Polarity
Hermeticism / Dualism / Spirituality / Energetics / Symbolism
In esoteric thought, polarity refers to the principle that all phenomena manifest through pairs of opposites that are not in conflict, but complementary aspects of a unified whole. These dual forces—such as light and dark, masculine and feminine, active and passive, or spirit and matter—are seen as essential dynamics within the cosmos and the individual.
In Hermeticism (e.g., The Kybalion), polarity is one of the Seven Hermetic Principles:
“Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites.”
Opposites are not contradictions, but degrees of the same essence
Spiritual growth involves recognizing, balancing, and transcending polarity to achieve wholeness
