Ra (also spelled Re) is the ancient Egyptian sun god, one of the oldest and most central deities in Egyptian religion. He embodies the sun, creation, and royal power. At different times and places, Ra merged with or was identified with other gods—forming Ra-Horakhty, Amun-Ra, and others.
