🌑 What is black magic?
Black magic generally refers to magical practices that are deliberately used to gain control, power, or influence over people or events – often with selfish, manipulative, or destructive intentions.
In other words, it often serves the will of the magician, not necessarily the highest good of all involved.
This can include, for example:
Curses or hexes (witchcraft)
Love spells that break free will
Ritual magic to manipulate power dynamics
Summoning demons or contracts with "dark" forces
🧿 Important note up front
Not everything that looks "black" is negative.
Many traditions (e.g., in voodoo, left-hand path magic, or in indigenous cultures) do not necessarily use "dark" magic for evil. It is often about shadow work, transformation, breaking taboos, and self-empowerment.
In Western traditions, black magic has often been demonized by the church and society – out of fear of self-empowerment, female magic, or non-conformist knowledge.
🧙♀️ Typical Tools & Symbols
Black candles: Absorption of energy, protection, banishment
Salt, iron, nails: Banishing spells, protection, "nails in reality"
Animal bones/hair: Representation of people (sympathy magic)
Blood or one's own DNA: Connection to one's own energy/power
Demonic sigils: Symbolic powers from grimoires
Mirrors: Gateway to the otherworld, return of energy
⚡ Ethical gray areas & consequences
Black magic is powerful, but it is never neutral.
Most magical traditions (e.g., Wicca with the Triple Law) warn:
What you send out returns to you (at least) threefold.
This means:
Anyone who knowingly causes harm, manipulates, or interferes with free will must expect karma, repercussions, or spiritual imbalance.
That's why many experienced practitioners prefer to work with shadow magic (confronting inner demons) rather than active curse magic.
🔥 An example: Banishing Ritual (protection instead of attack)
If you feel someone negatively influencing you, you can cast a protection or regression spell instead of a curse.
Ritual: Rearview Mirror
You will need:
1 small mirror
1 black candle
Black yarn or string
A piece of paper with the person's name/symbol
Procedure:
Place the name behind the mirror.
Wrap the yarn around it with the intention: "Everything that is sent against me returns to the source."
Light the candle, look in the mirror, and say:
"It is not my anger that speaks, but balance. May every action flow back to the source."
Keep the mirror in a safe place—or break it later as a symbolic conclusion.
🕳️ Effect vs. Illusion
Real black magic doesn't work like in the movies—no fireballs or possession in seconds. But it can have a profound effect:
on the energy level
through psychological pressure (placebo/nocebo effect)
through synchronicities that you consciously direct
But: Anyone who calls upon dark energies must also be prepared to encounter them—within themselves.
