Wet-Cell Battery (Edgar Cayce)
Energetic Therapy Device in Holistic Healing Practice
Definition:
The Wet-Cell Battery is an electrotherapeutic device recommended in the so-called "readings" of the American healer Edgar Cayce (1877–1945). It was developed to stimulate the flow of energy in the body and support healing processes at the cellular level. Unlike conventional batteries, it is powered by a liquid—hence the name "wet cell."
Background:
Edgar Cayce is considered one of the most well-known spiritual healers of the 20th century. In his mediumistic trance states, he gave detailed health instructions to individual clients. For certain chronic or energy-related illnesses, he recommended the use of the Wet-Cell Battery, usually in combination with specific solutions (e.g., copper sulfate, gold chloride, or other substances) and accompanying measures such as massage, diet, or meditation.
How it works:
The wet cell battery consists of:
a container with chemical solutions (electrolytes),
metal electrodes (e.g., copper and zinc),
connecting wires, and contacts that are placed on specific parts of the body.
Chemical reactions create a weak current that—it is believed—harmonizes bioenergetic fields, supports nerve flow, and can promote cell regeneration. In Cayce's view, this form of "life energy" (comparable to prana, chi, or ether) should be brought back into balance.
Areas of application according to Cayce:
Chronic fatigue and lack of energy
Neurological disorders and paralysis
Detoxification and metabolic disorders
Support for spiritual development and mental clarity
Note on use:
The application is typically carried out under the guidance of an experienced therapist or with detailed protocols based on Cayce's readings. In many cases, certain suggestive or meditative processes are also recommended.
Criticism and scientific evaluation:
The effectiveness of the wet cell battery is not scientifically proven. From a conventional medical perspective, it is a pseudoscientific method without recognized medical evidence. Nevertheless, users from the holistic community report positive subjective experiences, particularly in the context of energy therapies and spiritual work.
