Interrealm

The intermediate realm refers to a transitional space between clearly defined states, worlds or identities in esoteric-symbolic and parapsychological contexts. It is neither completely this-worldly nor clearly other-worldly, neither purely material nor purely spiritual. The intermediate realm is not a stable place, but a state of suspension.

Symbolically, the intermediate realm stands for the principle of Liminality - the in-between. Here, fixed categories lose their clarity: time becomes elastic, identities permeable, perception unstable. Dreams, visions, trance states, near-death experiences or initiations are often described as movements through an intermediate realm because they remove people from their usual order without already placing them in a new one.

Parapsychologically and symbolically, the intermediate realm can be understood as a Zone of increased psychological projection and resonance. In such states, archetypal images, increases in fear or sensation, and unusual correlations occur more frequently. Consciousness loses its everyday filter structure and therefore becomes more receptive - but also more vulnerable. The intermediate realm is therefore at the same time place of knowledge and of getting lost.

In a deeper symbolic meaning, the intermediate realm stands for the insight that transformation never happens immediately. There is always a phase of indeterminacy between dissolution and new form. This threshold is necessary because old orders must first collapse before new ones become viable. The intermediate realm reminds us that disorientation does not always mean loss, but can also be a sign that consciousness has not yet arrived, but is already on the way.
