The Paper Staircase
In an antique shop, Lale found a tattered notebook. Inside, sketched: an endless staircase on which small figures walked up and down. Beneath the drawing, it read: "You walk until you learn why."
Every night, Lale dreamed of walking up these stairs. She encountered the same people in different roles—sometimes as strangers, sometimes as friends, sometimes as adversaries. At some point, she realized: It wasn't about being up or down, but about how she encountered them.
As she reached out her hand to a figure in the dream, a step beneath her dissolved—and she suddenly found herself standing on solid ground.
